Presbyterian Women

Rhonda Hughes

The PW theme for 2018-19 is “Beautiful” and our aim for the year was to live out Psalm 27:4 “….to gaze upon the Lord and to inquire in his temple”. We started off our new season in September with Rhonda Hughes, beautician and owner of “Grace and Beauty” who did a beauty demonstration as well as providing us with a word of testimony.

International Justice Mission

At our Visitor’s Night in October we heard from Lauren Agnew from International Justice Mission, She gave a talk on trafficking and how IJM is involved in this work in NI. Ladies from Second Broughshane, McCracken Memorial and Newtowncrommelin PW and St. Patricks Woman’s Union, joined us on this evening.

Alison Dick

At our November meeting we heard from Alison Dick who had a very interesting testimony. Alison owns a Christian bookshop in Ballyclare called “Goosebumps” so all the ladies were able to participate in a craft as well as have the opportunity to buy books, Christmas cards etc.

PW continues to support the mission work of our church and we had
another successful ‘Soup Lunch’ in November. Our thanks go to all who helped or contributed in any way and we hope everyone enjoyed the fellowship and a chat over a hearty lunch. We raised £862.70 for PW Support to missions.

Christmas Dinner

In December we went to Toast in Cullybackey for our annual Christmas dinner. After a tasty meal we had a short programme to celebrate the birth of Christ and the Day of Good News. We also took part in the Christmas Fair in the Church Hall to reach out and show God’s love in the community at the switching on of the Christmas lights in the village.

Marion Reid

The January meeting was taken by Marion Reid author of ‘A Beautiful Thing’ and other books in the Marathana series. This was such a powerful and
challenging evening. Again, ladies were provided with the opportunity to buy
Marion’s books.

Upcoming

We look forward in the coming months d.v. to hearing from Helen Smyth ‘Caterpillar to Butterfly’ and Nancy McCollum ‘The Aroma of Christ’ and praising God in our annual PW Service. We will also meet with other ladies from the presbytery at the PW LINK Spring Rally in April.

Sunshine Bags

We continue to reach out in fellowship to ladies inside and outside our congregation who are going through a difficult time, through the giving of our “Sunshine Bags”. We are grateful for donations of items for these bags and for ladies who identify and readily show compassion by delivering these.

Many ladies (and a few gents) help with the meetings, set up of the hall, organisation and outreach events. No job is insignificant – as with the body of Christ, all are vital and are done for the Glory of God and to serve Him. We continually endeavour to encourage our ladies in their “walk” with Christ. May we continue to grow in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour.
